The course goal is to provide the beginning screenwriter with the tools and information necessary to get started on their first-draft screenplay, the first pages of which will be workshopped during the final two class meetings.
In this course you will learn:
• The basics of the screenplay in format and content and how it translates into a finished film
• What constitutes a scene and how it works toward creating forward action
• How to keep dialogue short—but effective
• Making characters memborable
• Tricks for brainstorming plot points
• Tips on marketing and promoting your finished script
