Film Synopsis:
For the past 5 years, 3 months, and 26 days, (not that they're counting) Anthony and Carmine Marconi have been dutifully serving out life sentences in the family carpet business. Anthony (Brendan Sexton III – Welcome to the Dollhouse, Boys Don't Cry) works himself to the bone whilst Carmine (Dan Fogler – Balls of Fury) pursues a quicker path to freedom.
Fate intervenes during a routine carpet installation when the brothers step into the world of Louis "Lou" Burns (Jon Polito – Barton Fink, Miller's Crossing), playboy and king of the Long Island wedding video business. Mesmerized by Lou's fast talk, flashy toys, and leggy "secretaries," the brothers hustle themselves jobs as his new assistants.
It isn't long before the brothers encounter the pitfalls of seeking independent lives from their family. Never exactly the best of friends they soon realize, for better or worse, they're in this together. It doesn't help that their new boss, Lou, happens to be a certifiable nutcase. A frustrated Cecil B. Demille at heart, he directs the grooms for "better performance," calls cut during the toasts and explodes in a fit of rage at the sight of the in-house photographer, his ex-wife, Sonya Weitzman.
Frustrated by Lou's temper and his brother's wanting work ethic, Anthony finds solace in Sonya's sexy assistant, Lauren McSherry. They quickly bond but when he's finally gotten his nerve up to make a move, an even bigger crisis arrives - Carmine has screwed up the audio on the wedding vows and the brothers have to do some quick thinking to save their jobs - and their necks..
About the Filmmakers:
Based in New York, cousins Michael Canzoniero and Marco Ricci began collaborating early on in life with their animated super-8 "epic", "Jedi in Training". After graduating from film school, each ladled with student awards, they made their first short film, "Pishadoo". "Pishadoo' was well received on the festival circuit and purchased by Canal Plus Europe, Sundance Channel, Atom Films and United Airlines. It also garnered awards from the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Williamsburg Film Festival and Crested Butte Reel Fest. Their second short venture, "Hyper", was received with even more precedence when it was chosen for the Centerpiece of the New York Film Festival to open for P.T. Anderson's Punch Drunk Love. "Hyper" also had a successful festival run, counting San Francisco International Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival among its fans. The pinnacle of "Hyper's" success came from numerous award mentions, including a win at the prestigious Short Film Festival, Aspen Shortsfest and is currently being distributed by Apollo Cinema. While the "glamorous" world of wedding videography may have paid their way through film school and provided them with the hilarious material found in Marconi Bros, Mike and Marco have no plans to return to the video world as they continue to thrive on future projects.
