To rent any equipment or use the facilities at IFP Minnesota, one must be a member of IFP Minnesota in good standing. Equipment and facilities use are not open to the general public (unless as part of a class).

• All Equipment checkouts are by appointment only (no walk-ups). Appointments may be made at our facility, over the phone, or by e-mail (reservations should not be counted on until the member receives confirmation).

• Please note, some equipment may require certification by IFP Minnesota before rentals may occur.

• Please inquire if this applies to any equipment you may be interested in renting.

• All credit cards and checks declined with a NSF will be billed and additional $25.00 return fee.

• Members who violate the rental and return policies of IFP Minnesota on two or more occasions may be subject to a 30-day suspension of rental privileges.

• IFP Minnesota will not be responsible for the level of charge in any rechargeable battery equipment. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests for charged batteries if they are placed 48 hours before the reservation pick-up date.

• IFP Minnesota strongly suggests that members allow enough time before their checkout to review and inspect all equipment that they are checking out before leaving the facility. IFP Minnesota Access Staff check and test all gear going out for a rental. Whether or not the member waives the right to inspect equipment they are checking out, all equipment becomes the responsibility of the member when they leave the IFP Minnesota facilities. Any and all damaged or missing items, and broken equipment will be the sole responsibility of the member. Future rentals will not be allowed until resolution of damages is reached.

• IFP Minnesota supplies spare bulbs with all lighting equipment rentals. IFP Minnesota cannot guarantee the lifespan of any bulbs in fixtures at the time of checkout due to the varied usage patterns during the average rental. IFP Minnesota Access Staff will replace any burned out bulbs a member may notice at the time of equipment testing at checkout.

• Returns of all equipment are due no later than 4 pm on the date of return. A flat $25.00 late fee or 25% of the total bill (whichever is the lesser amount) will be billed for any returns occurring after 4 pm. All equipment not returned by the end of the business day of the return date will be billed an additional day in late fees.

• A credit/debit card imprint is required for all equipment rentals that have a rental value of more than $100.00

• IFP Minnesota reserves the right to refuse rental requests. You have the right to request a written determination as to why the rental request was refused, and one will be provided to you within seven days of the request. Some, but not all of the reasons why a rental request may be refused are: equipment traveling out of state or out of country; equipment being exposed to extreme conditions. Use of firearms, explosions, and certain kinds of stunts, rigging of equipment to the exteriors of boats, cars, airplanes, and exposure of equipment to direct contact with water or flame.

• IFP Minnesota will make every attempt to facilitate the needs of your project. You are encouraged to submit any special needs of your project in writing well in advance of your needed rental date, so any concerns may be resolved.

• Never leave computer suites unattended and/or the door open/unlocked if you need to leave the suite at any time. Failure to do so may result in the suspension of computer suite reservations for that member.

• It is assumed that all members booking computer suite time are knowledgeable of the program or application that they will be using (Final Cut, Photoshop, ProTools, etc.) IFP Minnesota staff is not available to help students with their projects. Staff can help with general computer troubleshooting.
Members having regular difficulty with a program will be directed to our course catalog that features classes for all the applications we carry.

• All darkroom facilities must be left the way they were found. Members leaving running water, dry-mount heaters, exposed chemistry, standing water, work lights on, etc; will be notified of the infraction on the first violation. A second violation will result in a written and verbal confirmation of the problem. A third violation will result in a 30-day suspension of darkroom privileges.
