Fresh Filmmaker Production Grant

Congratulations to the 2010 Fresh Filmmaker, Amanda Becker!

Amanda has made several short films since she ventured into filmmaking in 2006 after attending Vancouver Film School. The screenplay that she'll direct through the Fresh Filmmakers grant, HOLE IN THE WALL, is the story of a father and son trying to mend a broken wall and their strained relationship.

Says Amanda: "I want people to watch my films and feel as though I have rummaged in their attics, found their old photo albums and artifacts, rearranged them to have new perspective but still yield the aura of remembrance."

The purpose of the grant, sponsored by IFP Minnesota, ETS Pictures and the Twin Cities-based production community. is to support beginning narrative filmmakers in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. This grant, the only one of its kind in the region, facilitates the production of one short narrative film directed by a filmmaker who has been making films for no more than five years.
