Most of those who are homeless did not choose to be, but are so because of economic or domestic misfortune. Some make homelessness an acceptable alternative that defines their life style and persona.

Xavier Tavera has been photographing America, a homeless man who has been living in various crawl spaces - temporary living environments in Minneapolis.

Filmmaker David Eberhardt immersed himself into the tramp and hobo rail riding subculture for four months each year for 11 years. The travels became the foundation for his photographs and film, Long Gone.

Excerpts of Long Gone will be screened during the opening reception.

This activity is made possible in part by the St. Paul Cultural STAR program and the Edith & Thomas Palee Charitable Gift Fund. Catalogues by Photo Book Press.
